A first person account of how the desire for a haute couture blouse causes a woman to behave irrationally.​

The story opens...

It was good to talk. After all the waiting, and two of these three appeared to be interested.

   ‘Well, as you know, my name’s Joan, Joan Brown.’ I’d always wanted a more sophisticated name and I’d gone by Jo for a while, before I married Chaz. After that, it didn’t seem to matter. ‘Sorry,’ I noticed my audience was fidgeting. ‘Yes. Well, I have to say, it’s very out of character for me to be jealous or envious but... I just couldn’t get it out of my head.’

   The man opposite looked confused.

   ‘The blouse,’ I confirmed. ‘I wanted the blouse from the moment I saw it....
